Elkhart County Jail Update and Prayer Request

The Elkhart County Jail ministry is going absolutely incredible!  I go in and have services twice a month (the second and fourth Thursdays of every month) and the group is continuing to build. The small class room is packing out, this last Thursday over twenty guys came. What I love about these men is that there is a hunger to change. These men are realizing that true lasting freedom can only come from Jesus!  Praise God! One of the keys in any ministry is constancy and these men are seeing that, and they learning to draw to God for His strength and help in their time of need.

One of the things I particularly love about this ministry is that many of the same guys are coming to the meetings. I have several who are still attending who came to the very first meeting (December 2011) - These guys are growing in their discipleship. But what I also like is that new guys are continuing to cycle into the meetings as well.

Just this last Thursday four new guys, who recently arrived at the Jail, signed up and are now coming to the meetings.

A cool testimony from the last Thursday’s meeting: After the preaching I felt led of God to give an altar call for any who needed to ask the Lord for forgiveness and to make Jesus Lord. As I was just starting to give the invitation I noticed a man in back with his hands raised up in the air, I just thought he was praising the Lord and I continued to exhort the men to get right with the Lord. When I looked back at him a second time he pointed to his right hand while he was nodding to let me know that he needed to get right with the Lord…Ha! It was a powerful time as the Holy Spirit was moving on the men.

Three men got right with the Lord this night.  Praise the Lord! It is a glorious thing to see men broken and humbled before God! All three men embraced me after the meeting and I was able to pray over them individually and encourage them.  Please keep Kendrick, Dorian, and Mark in your prayers. These were the brothers who received Jesus. Thanks so much!

** If anyone is interested in assisting with the Elkhart County Jail Ministry there is a mandatory orientation meeting scheduled for Thursday August 2nd.  This is the first step in being able to go into the Elkhart County Jail to minister.  Please pray about this, if this is something you feel the Lord would have you be part of please contact me and we will get it going.

Please pray for Life Line Outreach as we continue to step out and minister. This Monday I will be meeting with the managers of Broadmore Estates Mobile Home Park (Goshen) to inquire of Life Line Outreach conducting a Block Party Outreach in August.  Please pray for the Lords favor and His will. Amen.  Thanks.  Also, please pray for the Lord of the harvest to send forth labors into the harvest field (which is ripe for harvest)!!!

God bless! Please reply back to me with any questions.

Ministry At Bashor Home

With our original plans being changed from ministering at a Juvenile Center in South Bend, due to its closing, the Lord opened the door for us to be able to come into Bashor Home, in Goshen. So the outreach/concert was still on! And with our friends from Texas, the band PS150 coming up, we were excited! We knew God had something in store for Bashor Home and all who attended….Amen. (please see pics below)

We planned to have this event outdoors as a concert/cook-out, but the brutal one-hundred degree weather was a problem. So it was a wise decision to move it into the air conditioned cafeteria where we set up. We still grilled the hotdogs outside, a big shout of “thanks” to Frankie! who manned the grill.

Around fifty young people ranging from ten to eighteen came into the facility with staff to take part in the event along with a few families from outside the facility. So there were about seventy total who came.

The Band PS150 opened the outreach with some great jamming music. It is always so awesome to minister with this band, we have done several outreaches with them, and I totally love their spirits and their heart for ministry and reaching hurting people. We hope to be doing another concert with them next year when they come back to Indiana. Amen.

In the middle of the set of music from PS150 we had three of the Teen Challenge guys share their testimonies and minister and it was powerful! It is an honor to be connected with the Teen Challenge ministry here in Elkhart and I love the fruit that I am seeing in these guys lives.

After the last round of music, Pastor Jeff Cooper came up and delivered a powerful message sharing the love of Christ. “True love expressed itself as Jesus laid down His life and was crucified for the sins of the world.” Pastor Jeff preached how true freedom and deliverance can only come by the power of God! And how we have to choose to make Jesus Lord!

It was a powerful message. Many times during the preaching it got real quiet in the facility as the Holy Spirit was moving and working on the hearts of the young people.

Then came the altar call-the call for anyone to step out and come forward to receive forgiveness and to make Jesus Lord. It was one of the most powerful altar calls I have experienced in quite a while, as three-quarter of the kids came forward to make Jesus their Lord. What a joy to be part of this as God was doing a great work!

As the young people were stepping forward to the front, I couldn’t help but notice one young man who came forward, he was around ten years old. I later found out his name was Joe. He and his mom came up, both of them were totally broken before God, (believe me, I am not exaggerating this…) tears were streaming down both their faces as they were crying out to Jesus! It was awesome! Both were vibrating and quaking under the convicting power of God. In many ways words cannot describe what I was witnessing.

We ministered at the altar for quite a while. The Holy Spirit directed us to call up those who need deliverance from suicidal thoughts. Four young people came forward to receive prayer, one young man and three girls.

God did a work on them. The girls had been cutting themselves and were dealing with suicide, thoughts of worthlessness and defeat. Pastor Jeff prayed deliverance over them and the love of God filled their lives. It was powerful! And it was God! All I could say was thank you Jesus!

After the altar ministry we all enjoyed fellowship and more one on one ministry as we served grilled hotdogs. We passed out many Bibles and tracts as we connected with many of the staff and the parents who were in attendance.

Please keep the Bashor kids in your prayers.

A continued shout of praise to our Lord for His drawing and convicting power- who gives life changing grace on humble hearts who cry out to him! As we seek Him we find Him…Amen!

Please keep Life Line Ministry in prayer. I minister in Elkhart County Jail this Thursday and it is going  absolutely incredible! Twenty one guys came to the last meeting and the Lord is doing a great work in these guys.

Thanks for reading this blog and for your prayers and support. God bless!
